Reference Research Assistant, Library Sciences
Philip Palmer, M.S., R.D., is a Reference Research Assistant in the Library Sciences Division of AIBMR Life Sciences. He earned both a Bachelor’s degree in the Natural Health Sciences and a Master of Science in Nutrition from Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington. As a graduate student, he became a Research Assistant at the Bastyr University Research Institute, where he also participated in studies on the biochemistry of garlic extracts in vitro. After spending a post-graduate year in Alaska, he completed a Dietetic Internship through the University of Alaska, giving him a spectrum of experience in public health and clinical settings.
Philip, a former chef and graduate of the Natural Gourmet Institute for Health & Culinary Arts, in New York, NY., is a Registered Dietitian. Among his responsibilities is as a Research Coordinator for two dietary intervention studies. Areas of particular interest to Philip include omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, vegetarian nutrition, macronutrient balance versus metabolism, non-nutritive bioactive compounds in foods, and the psychology of eating behaviors.
