Vice President of Asian Regional Affairs.
He earned his PhD in Chemistry at the University of California, Irvine, and Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry at National Tsing-Hua University, Taiwan. Dr. Liu has an extensive background working in nutraceutical product development and international regulatory affairs. Fluent in Mandarin, Taiwanese, Japanese and English, Dr. Liu has successfully registered foods, dietary supplements, and OTC’s, in Australia, Japan, Taiwan and China. From 2002 to 2004, he was a Project Director in the Program Office of Herbal Medicine in the Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs. His responsibilities included oversight of research projects of government-sponsored research institutes. He also directed technology transfer and collaboration with local and foreign biotech companies whose objectives were to take herbal medicines and globalize their entry into both nutraceutical and pharmaceutical markets. Previous to working for the Taiwan government, he was Chief Executive Officer of Analytica Biotechnology Co., Ltd, in Taipei, as well as, Director of Asian Business Development for Analytica Therapeutics Inc., in Alameda, California. Prior to working for Analytica, he was the Senior Scientist at Suntek Bioscience, Inc., in Brea, California, where he developed computer-aided design and in-vitro/in-vivo methods for nutraceutical product development. Dr. Liu was a post-doctoral researcher in the Institute of Biomedical Science, Academica Sinica, Taiwan, were he studied the structure-function relationship of biomolecules using computer simulation and NMR observation. In Taiwan, he received the Distinguished Service Award from the Informational Intelligence Group, Marine Corps Headquarters. He was also a Distinguished Teaching Assistant at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Liu manages AIBMR’s liaison office in Suzhou, China (near Shanghai), in addition to being a valuable member of AIBMR’s technical staff in the Division of Natural and Medicinal Products Research in Puyallup, Washington, where he is based. |
